Funeral celebrant for ceremonies in glorious technicolour.

When someone dies, the last thing you need is a ceremony that doesn’t feel like them. One where you’re sitting there thinking, “Am I actually at the right funeral?”

I’m Debs Augustin. I create bespoke ceremonies that celebrate your nearest and dearest for who they really were — not in black and white.

— Hello,

I’m Debs.

I spent years gathering people’s stories as a local authority commissioner, pulling together the details that mattered into something meaningful. Then, at my own mum’s funeral in 2019, I had a lightbulb moment: this is what I’m meant to do. Tell people’s authentic stories. Give families the kind of goodbye they actually want.

So that’s what I do now. And it’s a privilege every single time.

In glorious technicolour
Bespoke funeral ceremonies

Not the born, lived, died variety.

I work with families who want more than a standard, heads-down, let’s-get-through-it kind of funeral. Whether that means a ceremony delivered with quiet grace and elegance, or something with a bit of sparkle — think candles, bubbles, sweets on chairs, even karaoke — every ceremony I create starts with one question.

Then I listen. To the stories, the funny moments, the little habits and quirks that made your person who they were. From there, I craft a ceremony that captures all of it — delivered with empathy, warmth and an eye for detail.

The question I begin with

How do you want people to feel when they leave?

Then I work backwards — building a ceremony that gets you there.

Quiet grace - A bit of sparkle - Truly yours

My approach to celebration and grief

Gold in the cracks.

My brand takes its inspiration from Kintsugi — the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. The break is never hidden. Instead, it becomes part of the beauty.

That’s how I see grief. Our grief never shrinks, but our lives grow around it. We carry our nearest and dearest with us in the little things: a piece of music on the radio, a flower, a perfume, a television programme that was always theirs.

The ceremony I create for you will hold those stories at its heart — celebrating what you had, rather than only mourning what you've lost.

— in their own words

Debs was incredibly well prepared, proactive and showed great empathy towards us. The service was conducted with great sensitivity and clarity, and everything ran smoothly. We are very grateful for such a thoughtful and fitting tribute to our mum.

Debs was fantastic from the minute we asked her to lead mum’s funeral. I couldn’t have asked for more help and compassion. She treated mum with dignity and respect.
